I am a chemist at heart and am interested in gaining mechanistic insight into the world of catalytic reactions. Currently, I am studying environmental effect such as pH on the structural, electronic and catalytic properties of oxides. By developing novel methods, I hope to efficiently and accurately simulate reaction conditions and quantify their effect on materials properties. Though a theorist now, I did my senior thesis as an experimentalist in the High-Pressure Mineral Physics Lab at Yale studying Fe structures at high-pressure and high-temperature conditions.
I enjoy reading religious philosophy and historical biographies. I am also an avid opera fan and love experimenting with different recipes at home.
